Chlkboard at 0.75M impressions

Chlkboard on Microsoft’s Project Nimbus

Recently, we contributed a dataset to the Project Nimbus hosted by Microsoft and the same dataset is also used in the Code Extreme competition. It is similar to the spirt with an open API which we allow our developers to be flexible and able to customize our ads with the promotions extracted from the database. We have reached half a million impressions!

Chlkboard Web App m.chlkboard.com now works on Android Phones

As an update, our Chlkboard web app where you can access via m.chlkboard.com on a mobile phone now works on android phones with the Android OS 2.1 (Eclair) and OS 2.2 (Froyo). Originally, the web app worked on the iPhone but now it is extended to Android phones with OS 2.1 and greater. If you have a Android phone, you can check the mobile browser and type “m.chlkboard.com” and you can access our latest promotions via that web app as well. On another note, if you click on the listing, you can utilize the view map, dial the number to the retailer & share the promotion via the web app similar to the iPhone. Special Surprise Promotion from Brewerkz with Chlkboard

Recently, one of our advertisers, Brewerkz have utilized our system and sent a promotion specifically for the location Brewerkz at Riverside Point. The special thing about the promotion is that it’s meant for those who viewed it via Chlkboard web app and the third party apps (e.g. SG Malls). One of the customers visited Brewerkz and dropped us an email that comes to us as a pleasant surprise. The special voucher which Brewerkz is giving out for the Chlkboard exclusive, actually bears our name on it. Here are the pictures of the promotion and also the voucher. 5 Principles for Agile & High Speed Development @ Open Web Asia

Yesterday, I was invited to speak in the Open Web Asia on the topic “5 Principles for Agile & High Speed Development” and shared the Chlkboard story with the delegates there who come from all over Asia. In essence, I discuss how Facebook, Twitter & FourSquare have successfully evolved quickly with their platform and data, and how common principles can used to provide a guideline to most start-ups when planning for their new ideas and getting them to market quickly. Our 1st App Developer: 2359 Media & SG Malls

The first app developer to try the Chlkboard API is a company named 2359 Media, with two aspiring young entrepreneurs Zhou Wenhan & Wong Hong Ting. They created an app called SG Malls, an mobile app on the iPhone which helps customers navigate inside a mall in Singapore. Comprising of the store directories of all the shopping malls in Singapore, customers can also search for brands to find the shop closest to his/her locality. Within malls, maps within the app also help users navigate to the shop of choice. They embedded the Chlkboard ads as part of their offering in the sales section under the “Nearby” section. As we have heard from them, the app will also be available in Android soon. (continue reading…)

Chlkboard Developer Event @ Brewerkz

Recently, Chlkboard has hosted our first developer event in Brewerkz Singapore. Our intention is to showcase mobile applications that have utilized our API (in private beta) and an easter egg to showcase one of our paid advertisers, Carrefour. Young Upstarts: Chlkboard Opens APIs; Extends Ads To Other Mobile Services

Singapore-based mobile location-based marketing solutions provider Chlkboard last week opened its API to developers, allowing them to push contextual location-relevant ads into their own mobile services. Through their platform, it offers a 60-40 revenue split on ads served from its current list of 180-plus retailers, which runs the gamut of services from supermarket giant Carrefour to independent sushi chain The Standing Sushi Bar, based on click-through rates.
