Chlkboard Web App

We have officially launched the Chlkboard web app today and started to allow our sales team to use it as a demo for our advertisers and publishers (who we like to collaborate in the future). Currently, the web app only works on the iPhone or iPod Touch with a Safari browser. Instead of creating an iPhone native app that will take us another 21 working days of wait to be approved by the iTunes app store, we decided to make use of Safari web development that behaves like an iPhone native app. The app is constructed with the help of 2 programmers, Vishnu and Michael. One of the key tricks we did is to make the web app looks like a native app on the iPhone. Here now, we have the first version of our web app. We will look into extending this web app into smart phones that have HTML5 capability.

So, here is how the Chlkboard web app works:
- Turn on Safari browser on your iPhone and type “chlkboard.com” Upon connecting into the Internet via 3G broadband or wi-fi using your iPhone or iPod Touch in Singapore, the first thing you see is the Chlkboard landing page.

- The listings within a distance range will be shown. Currently our listings are taken within the 10km. With more advertisers on board with the promotions, we will shrink the distance range hopefully within 1km distance of the user. We will aggregate more listings over the next few days with our sales team at work.

- You can click onto one of the listings and view the promotion which you are interested in.

- If you click on the “View Map”, you will be find your location on Google Maps in Singapore. You can also directly call the shop which you are interested to look at the promotion by taping on the number on the screen.

- You can add the web page to your iPhone home screen like the way how native apps operate. Just click on the “+” and click on “Add to Home Screen”. Then click “Add” on the icon screen and you will be able to see the app on your iPhone home screen:
By the way, if you have the latest version of Firefox v3.5 on your desktop, just type “http://chlkboard.com/m” and you will be able to view the app on your web browser too.
